Disability support
If you have additional needs arising from a medical condition, physical or sensory disability, specific learning disability such as dyslexia, or mental health difficulty that affects your studies, we can support you. You can register with our Disability Advisory and Support Service as soon as you receive an offer, meaning we can support you in the lead-up to joining us and ensure everything you need is in place when you arrive
Personal safety
We have security services, systems and practical safety advice to help keep you and your property safe. You’ll benefit from:
- CCTV and 24/7 security services across campus and university accommodation;
- Practical safety advice and support from university staff and Greater Manchester Police.
Childcare
Studying while caring for children can be a challenge. It’s good to know that you’ve got local support. We have two nurseries for children aged between six months and five years – get in touch early to join a waiting list. Get involved with our Student Parents and Carers networks run by the Students’ Union, who can also offer advice and support.
Religious support
If you want to find out about local faith organisations, explore issues of faith or discuss a problem with a member of your faith, you will find a diverse community of contacts available, including:
- A Chaplaincy Centre on campus for students of all faith or none;
- Muslim prayer facilities and multi-faith quiet areas; Jewish,Christian,Catholic,Muslim,Sikh and Hindu chaplains, plus faith advisers from many other faith communities;
- Student societies for most major religions at our Students’ Union.
