Lead Programme Partners

The University of Manchester works closely with our local school partners. Some schools have an additional role in the PGCE and are known as Lead Programme Partners (LPP). This allows us to offer an alternative route into teaching across PGCE Primary and various PGCE Secondary options.

LEAD PROGRAMME PARTNERS (LPP)

Lead programme partners are accredited by The University of Manchester. By being a LPP they can recruit and select their own trainees, who will go on to complete their teaching placements and some of their curriculum training in their network of partnership schools.

LEAD PROGRAMME PARTNERS

If you choose to apply to one of our primary LPP route, you will cover the taught course content through both a university-based and school-based training course. Some of your taught course will be planned, organised and led by your chosen LPP alliance. You will spend some additional time in schools to receive the curriculum training, but will exit the programme with the same PGCE with QTS award as our core PGCE trainees.

SECONDARY LEAD PROGRAMME PARTNERS

The secondary LPP option largely follows the same course structure as the general PGCE course. Whichever option you choose, you’ll benefit from extended periods of school experience, resulting in up to 25 weeks of classroom experience (based on secondary placements).

We have LPPs in the following subjects:

  • PGCE Primary
  • Secondary Biology
  • Secondary Business Education
  • Secondary Chemistry
  • Secondary English
  • Secondary French
  • Secondary Geography
  • Secondary German
  • Secondary History
  • Secondary Mathematics
  • Secondary Physics
