About the course

Teaching mathematics across the 11-16 or 11-18 age range is perhaps one of the most important and rewarding careers in today’s society. You’ll bring the subject to life through creative and innovative approaches to teaching, giving students equal opportunities to succeed, inspiring them to use their mathematics knowledge in further study and encouraging them to aim high. The PGCE Mathematics with Economics course also prepares you to teach A level Economics.

“I have enjoyed hearing from guest speakers as part of the course - previous alumni, experienced teachers and charity representatives - as this has equipped me with advice from those in schools or working with young people on a daily basis.”

Ben Douglas, a graduate of PGCE Secondary Mathematics: won a social responsibility award for his work running weekly online Maths tutorials with asylum seekers, refugees and migrant workers. "We had a community of adults raring to go, wanting to learn and willing to try any Mathematics we could throw at them. It was joyful and refreshing and I would recommend it to any trainee teacher."
