With the global demand for data scientist talent ever-growing, this innovative, transdisciplinary MSc in Data Science is an opportunity for graduates from a broad range of disciplines to develop data science skills applied to urban problems. Run jointly with the School of Social Sciences, the Alliance Manchester Business School, the School of Engineering and the School of Natural Sciences, we aim to help you develop into an agile, skilled data scientist, adept at working in a variety of settings and be able to meet the challenges of interdisciplinary teamwork.

Nuno Pinto is the MSc Data Science Urban Analytics pathway lead. Nuno’s research focuses on the use of quantitative methods and data to support planning, transport and development processes. This research is part of the curricula in courses such as Applied Spatial Analysis and Decision Support Systems in Planning. The pathway brings together competences and skills on using data with planning theories and methods for dealing with urban related problems, which can be found in the Smart Cities policy agenda and the Urban Analytics approach to urban planning and management.
