Our research-intensive master’s courses provide an excellent foundation for those aiming to progress to doctoral study or to pursue a career in research. You will develop advanced research skills alongside in-depth knowledge in your chosen discipline, preparing you to make a meaningful contribution to your field.
Each programme meets the research training requirements for two ESRC scholarships administered by the North West Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (NWSSDTP). They are an ideal route if you plan to apply for an ESRC scholarship through the NWSSDTP or for a School of Environment, Education and Development scholarship.

Interdisciplinary
Study in an interdisciplinary context, with peers from Human Geography; International Development; or Planning, Property and Environmental Management.

Pauline Prevett, academic lead for the Research Methods master’s courses, has undertaken educational research in areas including inclusive education and understanding student decision making, and has a keen interest in developing research methodologies and supporting students into research careers.
