Academic Spotlight
Pauline Prevett, academic lead for the Research Methods master’s courses, has undertaken educational research in areas including inclusive education and understanding student decisionmaking, and has a keen interest in developing research methodologies and supporting students into research careers. “You will study with current doctoral students in some of the sessions and so this degree helps provide a bridge into our doctoral community in the School. It is a great programme to choose if you are hoping to progress to a PhD or if you are wanting to embark on a career as a researcher.”
Clare Cummings completed her MSc in Research Methods with International Development in 2019. She is currently undertaking a PhD at Manchester’s Global Development Institute. Her research focuses on public sector reform in Nigeria. “It was a useful year in which I had the time to explore concepts and topics that I wouldn’t have had time to learn about if I had begun my PhD straight away. I appreciated how flexible the University was in allowing me to access modules from different departments.”
